Second day of kindergarten for my picky vegetarian son. I'm trying really hard to make lunches for him that will be healthy, fun, interesting, filling and inspire him to try new things.
Bento is one of the ways I'm trying to make sure the lunches are fun and interesting for him. Today's lunch includes a peach 'flower' with a centre of blueberries, green 'cotton candy' grapes and purple grapes, a yogurt filled Bear Paw, veggie meatballs halved with a cute elephant pick, a mini muesli pita and cucumbers. I also packed separately a chocolate milk, cheese stick, graham crackers with a marshmallow and a bottle of water.
This week is really the week of experimenting to see not only what he likes but also how much he needs throughout the day. It's a full day with a balanced curriculum so he essentially gets two lunch breaks.
